On Acting Studio focuses on Acting for Film. We offer an assortment of classes for different age groups as well as private lessons. Our dream is to make training accessible to aspiring Film actors in the Northern Suburbs. We offer classes in Sunningdale as well as Brackenfell.
On Acting was founded by Kayla Van Tonder, an actress and teacher with over eight years’ experience in the Film Industry in Cape Town. She trained for three years at the prestigious Waterfront theatre School when, in her third year, she landed a lead role in Kyknet’s DanZ!. This led her to signing with a well-established agency and catapulted her into the wonderful industry. She has starred in international films such as “Redeeming Love” and “Dad’s party”. She also starred in the short film “Evade” for which she was nominated for Best supporting Actress at the Branson International Film Festival. She also wrote and directed her first short film in 2024 called Release. Kayla has trained in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA under Jency Hogan where she was inspired and the idea for On Acting Studio was birthed. Kayla is passionate about sharing her love for acting on Film with others and helping them to gain confidence and develop their skills.
Kayla is also a qualified facilitator and has worked at Shelanti Private School, a remedial school, where she taught Drama and made history as the director of the school’s first Musical, Honk! Jr.
